Staying motivated can be the toughest thing to do. It’s fairly simple for me to get motivated to do something like lose weight. But after the days and weeks that follow I begin to lose steam and suddenly that juicy steak finds itself on my plate. What can be done to stay motivated? How can we prevent ourselves from falling into old habits and gaining back the weight we lost? Here are a few simple steps to help you get and stay motivated to lose weight and get fit!
Set a schedule
This one is huge for me. I hate schedules. But somewhere along the way I have realized that I don’t get anything done without it being scheduled out and on my list. I set up a fresh to-do list every morning and then schedule out blocks of time for each item that I have to get done that day. For me, this includes working out and taking breaks. I also write out my meal calendar each week so I know exactly what I’m going to be eating everyday for every meal and snack. This way there is NO guesswork when it comes to eating the right foods and right portions.
Find a team
A major factor in your success will be the people that you surround yourself with. This can be your parents, siblings, spouse, friends, or coworkers. It can be anyone! It is vastly important that you surround yourself with people that are going to encourage you and keep you accountable. My wife is my weight loss partner. We work out together, prepare our meals together, and eat together whenever we can. We also hold each other accountable and encourage one another daily. I know that I could never do this without her.
